Editor's Note:
If you can't come up with a consise dictionary definition for a word, then you don't *really* know it. I had a good sense of this word from the context, but then again, you can't trust context from just any bozo on the web.

reify

v : consider an abstract concept to be real

[also: reified]

-dict.org

From: http://today.java.net/pub/a/today/2004/09/09/blacksmith.html

"Before more fully exploring the thesis of software developer as
reified smithy, an examination of the role of the bookkeeper would be
prudent, for the sake of juxtaposition, comparison, forecasting and
nuance."

Editors Note:

This article is a great example of prententious language, and is full of correctly used
twentyfive cent words. However, in this case I think the author
misuses the word 'reified'. It would make more sense to me if he had said
'nouveau', 'post modern', or even 'glorified'. Perhaps if he wanted to make a transition
to the next section of his essay he should have applied 'reified' to the subject of this sentance, his thesis.
